フープラバーズの今週のレッスン

もう皆さんはフープダンスを始めていますか？
ダンスが好きな人なら既にフープダンスの存在は知っていますよね？
知っているけど良く分からない人や、やる場所やキッカケがなかなか無い人は今回はその始めるキッカケにしてください。
オーストラリアでインストラクターのライセンスを取得したディアンが２時間、たっぷりと親切に教えます。
ディアンはパフォーマーでもあり、都内のクラブなどでショーもやっています。
まらレッスンは英語がメインになりますが、ダンスは言葉より見てまねる事が重要だと思います。
また英語の練習にもなります。生徒さんも外国の方が多く、インターナショナルな雰囲気があり、他の教室では絶対に味わえない面白さがあります。
是非皆さんも遊びにきてください。今から始めてフープダンスを東京に広めましょう！！

今週のフープラバーズのスケジュールです。

12日土曜日,13日日曜日は吉祥寺のアムリタというスタジオでビギナークラスが二日間あります。
場所は駅から徒歩７分くらいのところにあります。
ウェブサイトが有りますので、そちらで確認をお願い致します。
また、土曜と日曜では会場が少し違いますので間違わない様にお願い致します。
どちらもかなりカッコイイスペースになっています。

Hoop Change

They say that a change is as good as a holiday. Seems life is one long holiday for me. Who would have thought that a plastic circle could have such an impact on every element of life?




Let's start with the physical changes. I hear varying reports about the number of calories that hooping burns per hour and it is not something that I am really too concerned about. What I can say is that hooping has rapidly and drastically changed the shape, feel and strength of my body. As fat has been dissolved muscle definition has been enhanced, this does wonders for self confidence. Clothes that I probably would not have felt comfortable wearing a few months ago are now so loose I cannot wear them. The great thing is though I am not skinny by any means, I have a lot of meat on my bones it is just that that meat has become more defined and solid. I have to be pleased with that. All thanks to the hoop.

Hoop Dance performances require me to steer away from the jeans and t-shirt look I was used to, to a tighter, shorter version of everything. I have had the standard body conscious moments in the past, not feeling entirely comfortable with what was going on but I can say that much of those concerns have been spun off. There is something about wearing fishnets and metallic hot pants in public, not something I would have ever done in the past, that causes a fight or flight mechanism to kick in. You either rock it or stash it away in the cupboard. Hooping has helped me to rock it.


The spiritual benefits of being a hooper. Whether we want to believe it or not the fact is that life is a reflection of what you put out there. I can offer up a million and one examples of situations that have occurred due to the manifestation of thoughts and positive actions. Since having hoops swirling around in my life, everything about my existence has evolved so positively fast. On a daily basis I am flooded with love and support by friends, family and strangers. What I am giving out is pouring back into my life ten fold. I am often overwhelmed at how easily my every thought and dream becomes a reality. While I know I have so many people to thank for that, I also know I have to give props daily to the hoops and my dedication to sharing the joy they create.



The emotional side effects of hooping should be obvious. You cannot be unhappy inside a hoop. Some of my friends have questioned my passion in the past, misunderstood it. Once they get their hips moving and that hoop grooving they are hooked just like me. To watch the hoop love spread throughout my growing circle of amazing friends is life giving.

The hoop has touched my family in fun filled ways too. I have a very creative sister who has her head in spin about what color and pattern to make her next hoop. While I secretly wish that she could come to Tokyo for a hoop up, I know that she will enjoy her time in the London hoop circle. I think we could put on one very fabulous family hoop tour, Mum has her very own hoop too!



Hooping continues to challenge and change me daily. I hungrily seek more, give more and in return am rewarded so very much more.

Lindsey, Leila and I will be putting on our very best, wildcat performance at Midnight. I will also rock the hoops in true Hoop Lover style in an earlier show high up above the crowd of leopards.

フープラバーズの今週のパフォーマンス！！

今週HoopLoversのパフォーマンススケジュールです。
まず、木曜日３日は、麻布にあるクラブ、WEREHOUSEでDJCAT NYC LIVE!!があります。
このDJ CATはニューヨークを拠点に活躍しているDJです。
今回は彼女のワールドーツアーです。
東京ではどんな音楽を聴かせてくれるのか楽しみです。
HoopLoversは２回パフォーマンスを行ないます。お見逃しなく！！
そして、次の日金曜日は、ガイペリーマン主催のパーティー、Sky High!!が六本木のマドラウンジで９時から始まります。
ガイさん自身のラジオプログラム、guyperryman.comの100%主催なのでかなり楽しみです。
場所は、森タワーの52Fですので、DeaaneのLEDフープでのパフォーマンスがどんな輝きを見せるかいまから楽しみです。

Hooping in Harajuku

I have a million exciting hooping stories to share but I will start with this one...it is well past my bedtime!



There is always something going on in Harajuku and on Sundays the people really come out to play. Two Sundays ago on the way to Tokyo Freeze I did an impromptu hoop up where the Harajuku Girls hang out. I was surprised when Sonja sent me these photos that her partner Daan Archer took of me hooping around. I was in such a hoop cloud I didn't realise there were so many others mesmerized by the hoop.

フープラバーズがガイペリーマンの番組に出演します。

昨日は、ガイペリーマンのラジオ番組でフープラバーズの収録があったために、原宿のcafe、montoakに行ってきました。
彼は18年間日本に住んでいて、インターナショナルラジオDJと言えば間違いなく彼ですね。キャリアバリバリです。
今回の収録は、彼自身の番組、guyperryman.comの中のTokyo Espressoというところで１週間放送されます。Deanneも初の出来事だったのでかなり緊張していますた。5日にわたりフープダンスのすばらしさを伝えていきます。
そして、TokyoMadeも金曜日の彼の番組の中に出ます。今回は、TokyoMadeと29日のイベントFragmentについて話してきました。初めての収録でかなり緊張しました。思っている事がいきなり本番になると話せなくなり、何回もNG出しました。
しかも英語だったのでなおさらです。放送は金曜日ですが、インターネットなのでいつでも聞けますよ。
ガイさんもFragmentには来てくれます。彼の番組は東京について話しているので内容も分かりやすく、英語の勉強にも良いかもですね。

Tokyo Espresso is a 30 minute breakfast radio show hosted by Guy Perryman. The sleek and up to date, listen on demand program is known as The Hot Shot of Tokyo and a tuned in way to keep you in the know about all things happening in this wild and wonderful city, Tokyo.

I met with long time Tokyo dweller and radio superstar, Guy Perryman, yesterday and we got to talking about all things hoopy. As a result I will be featured on his radio program every day this week chatting about my love of the hoop and my passion to share the joy with you all.

Frozen Hoops

We knew the Freeze had been scheduled for Sunday and although we were heading to Yoyogi park, not far from the stagnant action, we thought we were too late for the event and likely just run in to friends on the way and catch up on the details. Luckily for us just as we were passing over the bridge where the Harajuku girls hang out we were grabbed by photographer Martine Cotton and told that we had a about 30 seconds to get into position.

Dumping our hoops we watched around eagerly to get the signal from the lead freezer! In no time and without any commotion we were frozen in time for 5 minutes. As Leila spent her 5 minutes hunched over digging for her ipod, I had a good view of the happenings. Close by I could spy many couples and trios frozen in place while the rest of the crowd wandered, stared, giggled, and took photos. A few tourists came along side me and whispered, "Is it OK to take a photo?" Of course I could not respond and so I would love to see the pics of the group of men who took plenty of snapshots of them with their arms around me as I stood there like a statue.

A super cool event with plenty of stories to catch up on after wards. We headed to Yoyogi to swap Tokyo Freeze stories and share the hoop love.

The Friday the 13th 2 hour Hoop Jam will explore breaks, isolations, multi-level hooping, jumps, turns, angle hooping, reversals, stalling and more!

A 2 hour class with time for personal practice.
